Loudon District Association

CONSTITUTION
OF
LOUDON DISTRICT
BAPTIST MISSIONARY AND EDUCATION ASSOCIATION

ARTICLE I This body shall be known as the Loudon District Baptist Missionary and Education Association. It shall be composed of pastors and messengers chosen annually from orthodox and cooperating Baptist churches of good standing and sound doctrines and practices.

ARTICLE II The objectives of this Association shall be to advance the Redeemer’s kingdom by preaching the gospel at home and abroad; the fostering of Sunday Schools; training unions; women’s missionary unions laymen; the support of world missions; the encouragement of ministerial and general education; the circulation of religious literature; and the production of harmony of the churches.

ARTICLE III The officers of the body shall be as follows: Moderator, First Vice Moderator, Second Vice Moderator, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretaries, Treasurer, Statistician, Chorister, Pianist.
Section A. This body shall elect annually a First Vice Moderator and a Second Vice Moderator.
Section B. No person shall hold any office in this Association except said person be a member in
standing of some orthodox and cooperating member church of this district and said person
being sent by his church as a selected messenger to this Association.
Section C. An Executive Committee composed of the Moderator, First and Second Vice Moderators,
and all staff workers shall be established to efficiently direct all Association Business. The
Moderator having authority to call said staff into session as the need directs.

ARTICLE IV They shall hold their office until their successors are elected. These officers shall be voted on by ballot. However, when only the name of one person is submitted for any office, the election of that person may be declared by consent. The office of Moderator and Presidents of each auxiliary to be a four-year tenure. Election of officers may take place on Friday of the annual session.

ARTICLE V The executive board shall be composed of the Moderator, Vice Moderators, Secretary, Treasurer, Presidents of the Women’s Missionary, Laymen, Congress, and all Pastors with one member elected by his church, said being one of the cooperating churches of the district. The name of such member shall be placed on the letter of said cooperating church.

ARTICLE VI Registration shall be made at each meeting and any elected member who misses three consecutive meetings without providential reasons shall be dropped from the roll. The church he represents shall be requested to elect another member to replace him.

ARTICLE VII The board shall perform all such duties as are assigned to it by the body and conduct all business of the body in the interim, including all matters of policy, finance, and personnel.

ARTICLE VIII A District Missionary shall be elected by this body.
​
ARTICLE IX The executive board shall prepare a program for each session of the Association. The third board meeting of each fiscal year shall be the program planning meeting. All officers of the executive board shall be present.
Section A. This Association shall conduct (3) regular District Board Meetings each year as follows: the last Saturday before Thanksgiving in November; the last Saturday in March; and the last Saturday in May

ARTICLE X All churches shall pay the quota which they have accepted and any amount which remains unpaid at the August Association Meeting shall be paid at said meeting.

ARTICLE XI Each church shall be entitled to one messenger from each of its recognized auxiliaries plus the pastor and one from the church proper. Such messengers shall serve at the annual session only.

ARTICLE XII After a church fails to be represented one year in the Association, the said church must make application for re-admittance as a new church.

ARTICLE XIII All finances of the Association shall be handled by the Finance Committee as directed by the Association.
​
ARTICLE XIV Letters shall be submitted to the Association by each cooperating church giving information as requested on the letter form plus any additional information requested.

ARTICLE XV This Association shall in no way interfere with the internal affairs of member churches.
​
ARTICLE XVI All member churches shall be represented in the state and national conventions through this body.
​
ARTICLE XVII New churches may be received by vote of the body after said churches have submitted a letter and agreement has been reached as to quotas, payment of same, and/or whether churches are orthodox.
​
ARTICLE XVIII All ministers and officers shall be asked to enroll with amounts as stipulated on the printed programs or as asked by the presiding officers. Messengers shall also be governed by this rule.
​
ARTICLE XIX This Association shall hold its annual session beginning on the Wednesday before the second Lord’s Day in August of each year and meeting in such places as it may direct.
​
ARTICLE XX The Constitution supersedes all others and may be altered or amended by a two-thirds vote of the members present.
